Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood #9)
Genre: Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance
Rating: (out of 5)
Review:
Yet another awesome book for this series. When reading the reviews of these, a lot of people find it to be negative that after the first 3 or 4 books, the books are no longer ONLY about two characters. But I think it’s fabulous! The side stories allow J.R. Ward more room to grow – as she originally planned this series for 10 books, and has now extended it – she’ll need that room. Plus, side stories equal plot. And plot equals a set of books far and above your standard Harlequin romance. Love it!
The Departed (MacKinnon Curse #3)
Genre: Fantasy / Young Adult
Rating: (out of 5)
Review:
Great ending to a fun and unique young adult series. I love the specific details of dealing with the spirits, as well as the flaws in the main character. The whole book feels like something a friend could’ve told you really happened and that’s awesome.
The final book does a great job of tying up loose ends…although I think an explanation for Megan’s jealousy about Shane could’ve used some work, and I think the ending was a teensy bit rushed. But really – great book. I almost never like the final book of a series simply because it means the end. lol
Breathless (Jason and Azazel #1)
Genre: Fantasy / Young Adult

Review:
Boy….this book had a lot of promise. A run twist on good-versus-evil, with a little "Dan Brown" thrown in. Except…it just didn’t take off. A lack of character development and a lack of anticipation on the action scenes, I think. Really, really great premise – it just fell short.

A ghost story about a botanist who falls in love with a ghostly woman protecting a giant redwood. Yeah, seems a little odd, right?
I didn’t anticipate loving this book as much as I did. But I really, truly enjoyed the story. It was a unique and educational spin on a ghost story, that also educated you immensely on the coastal redwoods.
The love story felt a bit contrived, but honestly it held my full attention from start to finish, so I’m letting that bit go.
Well written, engaging, and fun.
