The Forever Queen

forever queen

Genre: Historical Fiction (with basis in fact)

Rating: StarStarStarStarStar(out of 5)

Review:

Incredibly well-written and engaging book about Emma of Normandy. I picked this up as an affordable selection for the Kindle (it was under $5 at the time) and had come to expect..well..let’s say not-so-much from these cheap reads. But this one was fantastic. Historical fiction that allows for fact where there are facts to be placed, about a woman who was Queen of England under two different kings, and went on to be the mother of several other Kings of England. Apparently this was the second book the author had written on the subject material, but you can easily read it on it’s own without reading the first Smile

Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood #3)

lover awakened

Genre: Paranormal Romance/Fantasy

Rating: StarStarStarStar(out of 5)

Review:

Yep – still reading the smutty vampire series. I really can’t help it – I do enjoy them! This one wasn’t as good as the first two; the main character in this one, Zsadist, really just isn’t my “thing”. He has all kinds of weird emotional and mental baggage that I just can’t deal with. Ha! Regardless, still a decent book, and there are several more so you’ll be seeing them again. Smile

The Hangman’s Daughter

hangmans daughter

Genre: Historical Fiction

Rating: StarStarStar(out of 5)

Review:

This was another affordable (under $5) book I picked up for Kindle. And I’ve actually had it awhile and just never read it. I finally got around to it and found it to be surprisingly engaging! The subject matter – a Bavarian village’s hangman, his daughter, and the village physician try to solve a mystery that involves dead children, treasure, and witchcraft – was a little weird initially, but it’s well-written and comes together for a nice read. And it’s based on relatives of the author, which is neat. Smile
