Distinctly different from her Black Dagger Brotherhood books – but with all the kick-ass elements in place. Great premise, fun read.

Those Who Save Us

Review:

I liked this book’s ability to show the Holocaust from a different perspective – it made for a more unique take on the times. It was a different take and had a lot of potential. It certainly kept my attention. However…
Why is Max the love of Anna’s life – but as soon as she leaves her father’s place, there’s hardly a mention of him again? Even Trudy seems to be shouldering some weird type of guilt handed off from mother to daughter.
And for a book so intricately hung up on the details of food and life in Germany, as soon as the story transfers to American soil, it becomes choppy, and quick – as though the writer was given a set amount of pages and she’s realized she’s nearing that limit.
My largest complaint, though, is the EDITING. What on earth is it with the editing in e-books?! Have we eliminated the "editor" position at these publishing houses? Goodness sake. There were no quotations when folks were talking – that made it ridiculously hard to keep track of what was going on.
EDIT THEM LIKE A PAPER BOOK, PUBLISHING HOUSES!

Review:

Not sure what happened here. This book seemed badly put together, and referenced a sort of 5.5 half-book that wasn’t mentioned anywhere else.
I hate that.
I don’t mind when authors write side-short-stories, but only when they don’t affect the whole series as a whole. In this case, Harris wrote a half-book in between 5 and 6, and it didn’t come up anywhere in my reading until I was already on book 6.
I like Quinn, and Sookie is finally less obnoxious – but the whole book feels detached…like Harris just threw something together for a deadline.

Review:

Felt this book continued some of the messy aspects of the last one. It seemed rushed, and not well-put together…although, I guess, slightly better than #6.
Still a fun little series. 🙂

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades #1)

fiftyshades

Genre: Romance/BSDM

Rating: Star(out of 5)

Review:

I’m having trouble even coming up with anything worthy of explaining how I feel about a book that’s grown it’s hype off the sex involved…but no one bothered to mention all the child abuse premises underlying it.
Yeah, sorry. Child abuse? Not hot.
Writing? Awful.
Characters? Flat, or, so ridiculously traumatized they can’t properly function.
Blah.
